TEDxFolkestone 2019 - Speaker Introduction Part 1

TEDxFolkestone 2019 – A Reimagined Future

The future promises to reset our intuitions and challenge our belief system. We live in a unique time in history, but how can you reimagine something that hasn’t happened yet? A challenge that all 9 speakers of this year’s event will face!

We would like to take the opportunity for a speaker introduction by The Glass Wipe Board Company in the run up of to the 22nd June, when the Quarterhouse in Folkestone opens its doors again.

Speaker Introduction Week 1: Dan Abbott, Joanna Rawbone & Julia Bernard-Thompson

DAN ABBOTT

Dan is an Underwater Cinematographer and has been fascinated by large marine predators for many years. He will take a look at how respecting, appreciating and understanding our environment, as well as how to understand an animal’s behaviour better by learning about an animal’s personality and character. Something, we are sure, can be used and applied for day-to-day life as well.

JOANNA RAWBONE

Joanna is the founder of Scintillo Ltd, an Ashford based training & coaching consultancy, who enables people to set themselves free from their limiting beliefs, own their natural talents and optimise potential. Her idea of a Reimagined Future is one where bias is removed so that the skills and talents associated with introversion are valued as highly as those of extraversion.

JULIA BERNARD-THOMPSON

Julia is a business coach, who aims to help business owners grow to their first million in sales. She was intrigued by this year’s theme “A Re-Imagined Future” and her TEDx talk will be discussing “How does what we are called affect what people think of us?”

TEDxFolkestone will take place on the 22nd June 2019 at the Quaterhouse in Folkestone. Make sure to get your ticket today!

About TED:

TED is a non-profit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman. Find out more at www.ted.com

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talk videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.

TED provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. However, all TEDx conferences are subject to certain rules and regulations as part of their licence agreement that must be adhered to.

So, why do we sponsor this event?

Because, The Glass Wipe Board Company shares TEDxFolkestone values, such as:

• Thinking BIG and outside the box

• Communication

• Sharing free ideas

To only name a few.
