Going Wild for the Environment!

Posted 4 years ago by The Glass Wipe Board Company Team

We’re excited and proud to announce that The Glass Wipe Board company has become both members and sponsors of The Aspinall Foundation – an inspiring conservation charity committed to protecting endangered wildlife and the fragile environments in which they live.

This partnership with The Aspinall Foundation is an important step in our commitment to both sustainable business practices and product manufacture. Despite our recent heavy investment in more sustainable processes, on top of the already 99% recyclability of our products, we believe there is always more we can be doing. By supporting The Aspinall Foundation we hope to make a difference to the wildlife and environments most at risk, as well as inspire other businesses to consider their environmental impact and what more they could be doing to protect our delicate ecosystems.

Madagascar Project

The specific project we have chosen to support is the charity’s Madagascar project – a well-established community-led rainforest protection project which aims to increase the population of lemur species under treat from extinction. What we loved about this project was how integrated it was; working with the local communities that surround the rainforest sites to educate and empower them with more sustainable livelihoods and ways of life, in a way that protected the natural forest environment.

Local Communities

We are also pleased to be supplying The Aspinall Foundation with a number of bespoke Bowlphish Glass Wipe Boards – featuring custom artwork from some of the beautiful wildlife they work to protect. These boards will be used to facilitate learning and spark inspiration as part of the charity’s educational work with schools and local communities right here in Kent – through its two parks; Howletts and Port Lympne. Stay tuned to see the case study of their bespoke glass wipe boards in production.

Kilimanjaro Challenge

What’s more, this great charity has clearly sparked some inspiration here at The Glass Wipe Board Company; not only is the company doing its bit to make a difference, but our team are also going to be getting fully involved and doing their bit to spread both awareness and funds for the charity. Our Operations Manager, Sam Dewhurst, will be getting his hiking boots on as he attempts the charity’s Kilimanjaro Challenge in September 2020; taking on the highest mountain in Africa to raise yet more funds for their work.

You can follow his progress and donate via his GoFundMe page.

So, have you been inspired by just this small taster of what this great charity is doing? Do you fancy getting involved and doing your bit to make a difference? If so, stay tuned, because throughout 2020 we’re going to be doing lots of campaigns, competitions and initiatives to both raise money and encourage more fellow businesses to reduce their carbon footprint and do what they can to protect the environment.
