A memorable Project

A memorable project

As 2018 is coming to an end, we looked back at projects we were part of over the last year and there was one that came straight to mind; the ‘Space to Grow’ project, an amazing charity built for Demelza House.

When we were asked by our long-term client Workplace Creations to join them on the charity project they were taking part in to support Architect Practice, Geoffrey Osborne Ltd, we didn’t hesitate for a second. We knew this cause was something, The Glass Wipe Board Company wanted to get involved in.

The brief was to create a space for Demelza, a Children’s Hospice in Eltham, South-East London, that offers quiet and personal space for their full-time staff and volunteers, as well as creating a space for families of children to escape the day to day challenges there are faced with.

Geoffrey Osborne Architects planned and designed the work over 18 months, but once onsite the full refit was carried out over just a few weeks…. In true DIY SOS style, the build of a 2-storey extension and full refurbishment of their facilities was completed in just over 14 days! It was all go, go go!

The project consisted of over 300 people getting involved to deliver the extension and interior fitout. The fitout was the part for which we had the pleasure of manufacturing and supplying our BowlPhish Magnetic Glass Wipe Boards for, which were finished in Demelza’s statement colour red.

The Osbourne’s construction team worked tirelessly to complete the transformation in time for Christmas and ensuring Demelza was given the room and space to deliver their outstanding care.

The project completion was celebrated with Penny Lancaster hosting an opening event, which gave everyone to chance to see the transformation for the first time.

As you can imagine, we felt very honoured to be asked to be part in this special project, which we are sure has touched the lives of all the very special families Demelza House cares for.

We hope that the staff and patience at Demelza have been enjoying their coloured glass writing boards over the past year and that we were able to help at least a little to make Demelza House a space that can be enjoyed by both staff and families alike.

We would like to thank Workplace Creations, Geoffrey Osborne Ltd and Demelza Hospic for giving us the opportunity to help and work on this wonderful project. We hope to be able to help more charities in months and years to come!
