Another Milestone for The Glass Wipe Board Company

This year marked another milestone in the company’s effort to become greener and to protect the environment for future generations!

After a successful application with Low Carbon Across the South East (LoCASE), The Glass Wipe Board Company was given the opportunity to invest into Bohle’s Sedimentor Coolant Cleaning System, which has been installed with our BowlPhish Glass processing line edger.

So far, cooling glass and machinery tools during manufacture and disposal of waste water remained a significant overhead for the company.

However, clean cooling water increases the performance of machinery by up to 20 per cent and the service life of tools by up to 30 per cent, which was an important factor for us to consider.

The Sedimentor Coolant Cleaning System from Bohle:

The sedimentor works in 2 steps: coarse glass dust is separated from the coolant during circulation and as the particles sink to the bottom in an automated cycle, at the end of which a timed valve opens and any glass dust gathered at the bottom is flushed into a filter bag, leaving cleaned cooling water ready to be returned into the cooling circuit. The collected glass dust can then be recycled with our regular glass waste.

Using machine coolant long term:

  • saves time and labour
  • prolongs service life of tools and
  • significantly improves processing quality of the glass,

ticking all the boxes for working efficiently and moving towards our sustainable carbon footprint!

Aaron Dewhurst’s efforts have not gone unnoticed and Glass Times has spoken to him in order to find out, why he thought that now was the right time to invest. Make sure to read the complete Glass Times interview.

As mentioned at the beginning, the investment into this new machinery was made possible due to LoCASE, an EU funded project set up to help businesses tackle and adapt to climate change. Find out if your company might be eligible too.
